During phase 4 we got to see the free company and linkshell co-exist. Square Enix in their infinite wisdom, has made the linkshell member cap at 128 and the free company cap at 512, making it hard to have all members in both the FC & LS. We have decided the only fair way to do things as we had a LS in 1.0, is to let people join the LS as they want even if they are in the FC too. Even though we would like to have the LS as a place for our non-free company members as well, it is hard to tell people they can only be in the FC. Unfortunately, once we are capped with the LS we can only add to our FC until a spot opens up as we do not intend to add another LS at this time. Inactive members will be removed unless they have talked to Xenus Decimo about why they are taking a break and will be invited back should we have room.

Free Company chat (/fc) - This chat is to be used to talk about FC events and any content pertaining to the FC. These events will carry the importance of the FC and will not be for LS members unless we need a spot filled and at that time a leader will ask the LS. SGT does not like other linkshells and free companies using our FC members constantly to fill spots and we want to make sure we are not doing the same to others as they need their members to do their own events. Social chat is allowed and encouraged of course in the FC, as we may have members who don't want to be a part of our LS.

Linkshell chat (/ls) - This is used for social purposes only, although we do not mind random parties forming or getting together to level or do events within the chat. Please do not use this chat or its members to recruit for parties for another LS/FC all of the time. Feel free to make your own events using the correct importance on the site like we have always done in the past.

SGT Site - Please read the rules of SGT as going against them could get you kicked. The reply "I didn't know" will not work as they are all up there and it is a members responsibility to read them. We will be putting up guides and such so please check the site first as we will just point you back to the site for the information! All events are to be scheduled through the site and make sure to put up the correct importance according to the rules. Please feel free to make events and make sure to make as many for all SGT members as possible.

Please be mindful of your word choice and language as we do not want to make our members uncomfortable or offend them.

So then by being a member of both the FC and the LS should I drop my LS slot in order to provide room for those other members?

The only thing is that I would hate to miss something because I am unable to view the LS chat.

Also just to clarify I should be using FC chat primarily, both social purposes and building a group and only use LS chat for social chat with our LS members?

1. No we do not want you to drop your slot and I only posted the numbers to explain to members that there is not much we can do to make it 100% fair as much as we want to. Plus you were from 1.0 so you have friends in the ls that are not in our FC and we understand you not wanting to miss out on that. For new members in our FC we don't want them to miss out on our other members that are in our LS as well. It is not fair to request that of members as you stated you could miss out on what the rest of SGT is talking about. When we cap the LS we will just wait until there is an oppening and if there is one or two that really want in the LS. That is on the leaders end to worry about not the members, but thank you for thinking of others ^^. If it becomes a huge issue we will take another look at that time of our current options to keep things as fair as we can. We also will have quite a few inactives once ARR launches and others might not like the game after a while.

2. Ok as far as chat goes - If you are in both you can feel free to chat in both, I just did not want members to think FC was game talk only as we might have members that are only in the FC and we are all talking in the LS.

3. FC related events are to be done in the FC and building radom groups can be done in both chats. The event rules explain how we intend groups to work out.

4 We would really like to plan as many events (lvling, quests, dungeons, Primals, endgame, ect) as we can for SGT on the schedule. All planned SGT events will be done on the site using the schedule like we have done in the past and any members can post. On the rules page in the event section there is a color coding of importance to indicate whothe event is for. The nice thing about planning an event ahead is that it gives all members a fair chance to sign up for things from both the FC and LS. If we have say 14 members we can make two groups and pick up two others if no other SGT members want in. If something is starting at 6 and I normally get on at 8, I might get on at 6 if I can make it work with my RL.

I hope that clarifies things and please feel free to ask more questions should you have them. This is a very confusing thing and the leaders talked a lot about this and there is no clear answer. Adding another LS would still cut members off from talking to other members just like asking you to drop the LS would. Again, we keep a close eye on this and if this becomes and issue in the future the leaders will revisit the topic. Who knows we might not have a problem with capping the LS, but we just wanted to talk about it now to keep members informed.

Brie ^^

This is awesome information but some of it has gone over my head. So from what I think I understood, LS scheduled events will be posted on this site and you have to sign up for them through here, right? Also we can use either chat, ls or FC during events. Does being in one chat prevent you from seeing whats happening in the other chat?

The only chat system I am used to is FF11 where you would basically just change shells when it was time to do an LS event. How does this one work? When you change to the FC or LS option, does it cause for you not to see what is happening in the other in regards to messages? I think I understand, that when we are doing things as an LS we will be in the FC chat room?

Also, I remember seeing something about a chat room, by a chat room I mean something like teamspeak. I feel a little lost on how this is going to work.

Hey JSchubis,

You can be in both the LS and the FC chat at the same time assuming you are in both of them. The FC chat is meant to be use when we are doing and FC specific event and also for social purposes as well, the LS chat is mainly a social chat but if we need people to fill a few spots for an FC event we could use that chat for such purposes as long as it doesn't interfere with that person doing an event with their own FC. This is what I understand from the most part. If there are any points I am wrong on then I am sure that they will be corrected. I hope this info helps out some.
