Sastasha Boss: Denn the Orcatoothed

Now introducing a new flavor of Kat Snacks! It now has a zingy boss taste. This first batch certainly has a fishy taste to it at least.

The first out of a series of boss fights. This first one is of me, Maxi, Virsago, and Partly fighting the Sastasha boss, Denn the Orcatoothed. Admittedly, I felt I was off a bit for the dungeon. I actually picked THM as my class since I was so familiar with it in 1.0, but I just couldn't get into a groove until the second dungeon (and even then, I was still a little jumpy). So thank you all for being so patient with me.

I do have footage of the next two dungeons we did, Tam Tara Deepcroft and Copperbell Mines, but it may be a little while before they are posted, since Sastasha took a while to put together. Although I think I now have a blueprint on how the future videos should be handled. Next up in the videos, SGT vs. Galvanth the Dominator. Next up in the story quests, vs. Ifrit! Personally, I can't wait since that should allow me to unlock SMN.

Copperbell Mines: Ichorous Ire and Gyges the Great

Thank you for the comment Maxi. The third video from last Saturday's run is up.

I have included the subboss Ichorous Ire on this one. I'm wondering if I'm getting a little text heavy with the fight tips, or maybe since I did two fights on this one it just felt that way. This video includes myself, Maxi Celestus, Virsago Arkenstone, and Partly Cloudy.

Next up: Ifrit.

Vs. Ifrit (Story Mode)

The video from the Ifrit fight yesterday is now up.

In this video, we have myself, Brielle, Xenus, and Maxi going up against Ifrit (Story Mode). All in all, I thought it was a fun fight. Completing this version of Ifrit does allow you to gain access to a Grand Company as well as the SMN job if you have Arcanist to at least level 30. One noticeable difference between this fight and the version 1.0 fight is that I thought it was tougher to see the cracks. Once my eyes learned to focus for them, it wasn't too bad, but I completely missed the first one.

Also, to avoid story spoilers, I have edited out some cut scenes at the beginning and at the end of the fight. Not only for spoilers though, as the video would have been twice as long with all of that extra footage. For the next Primal fight, Titan I believe, I wont start recording until after we get into the battlefield.

Next up: The Thousand Maws of Toto Rak.

Edit: Now that I had posted it to YouTube, it seems to be a bit off. I'm not sure, but it seems to loose its HD during the fight, as it doesn't look as sharp as it did in the beginning. I know the original footage is certainly clearer. Its not too bad, but I apologize for the drop in quality during the fight phase. Of course, maybe it is just my eyes getting tired after playing around too much with it. If I can think of a way around it, I'll repost the fight.

One thing I want to throw in about Ifrit:

A very common strategy to do, especially on the Hard Mode version, is use attacks like Shield Bash to stun Eruptions. I miss a couple, but I first do it at about 3:11 in the video. A successful stun makes a distinct sound effect. This is handy for both reducing damage, and keeping other members from moving around too much.

You can also stun his Radiant Plume, however too many consecutive stuns and Ifrit becomes resistant to it, so it's generally not advised to stun Plumes. They also deal far less damage than Eruption anyway.

The Thousand Maws of Toto Rak: Graffias

The next video is up.

This outing has myself, Brielle, Xenus, and a pick up from the duty finder going against Graffias, the boss of Toto Rak. This video did come out better than the Ifrit one. I did try to reload that fight, but YouTube wouldn't take it because it was too similar to the original. That was not an issue here since the video remains HD throughout.

@ Maxi, I didn't know Ifrit could be stunned. I guess that is new in ARR since I don't recall him being stunned in version 1. But I do remember running a lot to avoid the cracks, and running back to the safe spot to avoid his charge. Thanks for the tip.

Next up: Hakkue Manor. And just a couple of weeks before Halloween appropriately enough.

Haukke Manor: Lady Amandine

What dungeon can be more appropriate for October than Haukke Manor, our next boss fight video.

This video shows the SGT team of myself, Xenus Decimo, Berry Mccaulkiner, and Liaysa Sineos going against the boss of the manor, Lady Amandine.

I think I felt a bit more comfortable on THM than I did in the first two videos. I also learned early in the dungeon that Transpose is your friend as a THM. I never really played around with it doing the quests for the class and BLM job, since I started at lv. 50 in ARR, but I can see this being a very useful tool. I also need to set my Raise spell next to my Swiftcast. I have them set next to each other on my Arcanist and Scholar, which my fingers were use to jumping to quickly during FATEs, but I couldn't find it on my THM until it was too late. Other than that, it was the most fun I had on THM since ARR started.

Next up: Brayflox Longstep. Then it is just a small step after for the fight with Titan.

Brayflox's Longstep: Aiatar

This next video shows myself, Xenus Decimo, Partly Cloudy, and Liaysa Sineos going against Aiatar of Brayflox's Longstep.

Finally got to do an outside dungeon, Brayflox's Longstep. Although I was expecting to fight outside, I don't think my eyes were ready for the jungle, since it took me a little while to warm up. It was also odd getting some help from a gobbie during one of the mini-bosses. One of the few times I was hoping that one of them wouldn't drop their Bomb Toss.

Thank you for the kind comments, Wootzie.

Next up: Titan.
